National Fitness Partners, a Planet Fitness franchise division that owns and operates 140 Planet Fitness locations in 10 states, including seven in Delaware County, is helping to combat food insecurity in the region, according to a press release.

On Feb. 29, Fitness Partners volunteers rolled up their sleeves to pack emergency food boxes at Philabundance and sort through 10,000 pounds of food donations, the press release continues.

The donations stemmed from the nonprofit’s Camp Out for Hunger event, the nation’s largest single-location food drive, where NFP donated 10,000 pounds of food. For reference, Feeding America considers an average meal 1.2 pound, meaning NFP’s donations resulted in 8,333 meals.

For several years, NFP has supported Philabundance through volunteer work, annual food drives, and sponsorship of Camp Out for Hunger. In 2023, NFP’s efforts resulted in over 16,000 pounds of food donated.
